Dr. Steven Lin, M.D.
Medical Director, Laguna Hills Location
Dr. Steven Lin is the Medical Director for Sand Canyon Urgent Care. As a board-certified Emergency Medicine doctor, he completed his residency at Los Angeles County University of Southern California.
Additionally, Dr. Lin received his medical doctorate degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Lin enjoys fitness, doing yoga, and playing golf.
Lucero Herrera
Director of Operations for Sand Canyon Urgent Care
With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Lucero Herrera serves as the Director of Operations at Sand Canyon Urgent Care. Lucero is dedicated to improving patient care.
In both her current and prior roles, she managed diverse healthcare environments, streamlining processes and innovating so that we are always improving the quality and delivery of your care.
Dr. Brent Tatomir, D.O., MPH
Physician, Irvine and Laguna Hills
Dr. Brent Tatomir is dedicated to advancing both public health and global healthcare. He completed his medical studies at Western University of Health Sciences, and earned a Master’s in Public Health from Touro University California. There, he contributed as an adjunct faculty member and research coordinator. Both Dr. Tatomir and his wife work in medicine while raising their young daughter and labradoodle.
Renee Cohen-Barrera, P.A.-C
Physician Assistant, Irvine and Laguna Hills
Renee grew up in Southern California and started her journey in medicine at age 15. She worked as a Medical Assistant under the guidance of her Physician father. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Clinical Health Services from the University of Washington and her Physician Assistant Certification from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She has 24+ years of experience in providing orthopedics, surgery, and urgent care with compassion. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her twins at Disneyland, scuba diving, and traveling.
Bernadette Alvarnas, RN, FNP-C
Nurse Practitioner, Irvine and Laguna Hills
Bernadette Alvarnas is an award-winning Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience in Primary Care and Urgent Care settings. She completed RN training at the University of Arizona and received her Masters degree from Azusa Pacific University. She has worked at Banner Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Hematology/Oncology on the Bone Marrow Transplantation team. Bernadette and her husband have 3 children and enjoy spending time with family and their dogs.
Paul Sheikewitz, MD

Paul Sheikewitz, MD, is a highly seasoned specialist in Emergency Medicine with 40+ years of experience. Having dedicated four decades to the fast-paced environments of both Emergency Rooms and Urgent Care settings, Dr. Sheikewitz brings an unparalleled level of diagnostic expertise and clinical judgment to every patient he treats. His career is defined by a steadfast commitment to providing high-quality, efficient care when patients need it most.
